Who we are
Hearthbook is run by Envol Ltd, company 17505466, registered in England and Wales, at 66 Paul Street, London, EC2A 4NA. We decide how your information is used. Contact us at support@velberget.com.
What we use
The memories, photos, captions and answers you add, the kind of book and language you choose, and the access code. These can include names, places, dates, health details, and details and pictures of other people, including children.
Why, and our legal basis
We use what you add only to write the book you asked for. Our legal basis is your consent, and your explicit consent for any health details. You give it by ticking the box before you start.
What we keep
We don’t save your memories, photos, or the books the AI writes. A book stays in your browser until you close the page. We have no accounts, no adverts and no tracking. Your phone remembers the language you chose, and that stays on your phone.
Dictation
If you press the microphone, your browser listens and turns your voice into text using its own speech service. In Chrome that is Google’s, and in Safari it is Apple’s. Hearthbook never receives your audio, only the text. Each service has its own privacy policy, and you can type instead.
Who else handles it
Anthropic, in the US, reads what you add with its AI. It says it deletes this data within 30 days, keeps content flagged by its safety systems for up to 2 years, and doesn’t use it to train its AI without permission. Read Anthropic’s retention policy.
Cloudflare hosts this site and passes what you add on to Anthropic. It may keep basic technical records, such as your IP address, to run and protect the service.
We don’t sell your information. Sending it to the US is an international transfer. We only use suppliers whose terms protect your data at least as well as this policy does.
Your rights
You can stop using Hearthbook at any time, which withdraws your consent for the future. You can ask us what we hold, and ask us to correct or delete it, though we don’t save what you add. If you’re unhappy, tell us first. In the UK you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Health data in the US
This section is our consumer health data policy, including for people in Washington State and Nevada. A memory or photo may show health conditions or treatment. We collect this from you, only to write the book, with your consent. We share it with Anthropic and Cloudflare to provide that service, and with no one else. We don’t sell it. You can ask to see or delete it, or withdraw consent, by emailing us. If we refuse a request, you can appeal by emailing us again.
Age
Hearthbook is for people aged 18 or over. A children’s book is made by an adult for a child. Children don’t use the site themselves.
Changes
We’ll update this page if anything changes.
